home

I'm back in the US and apologize for lack of updates in the last few weeks there. Things were super busy and somehow we never really made it to the internet cafe. One Thursday we were off to Arbit to see their work (super cool) and the next we were at Tell Barri celebrating their 30 years of excavation (quite impressive). and then, of course, right at the end of the season when I had a million things to do and work to finish I got sick. As in, really grossly sick. Thankfully my friends took good care of me (thanks Hiba) and I managed to recover enough to make the last week not a total loss. I'm feeling better now although the Doctor isn't quite sure what's wrong with me. Apparently I needed some rest and to eat healthy so that's what I've been up to since I've gotten back. It's a bit of a bummer because I've been dreaming about wings for 3 months now and am still not sure if my digestive tract is ready for that but we'll see.

Just before left I spent 2 days in Damascus with my friend Yasmine (thanks Yasmine and family!) touring around and checking it out from a local point of view. We went out to some fun places, I got to meet her boyfriend and we hung out in her house with her family. It was a great way to wrap up the trip. Here are some pics

The flight home was uneventful and I was happy to arrive back to my nice bed and our apartment. This is the first time I've arrived home from Syria and haven't had to move immediately and let me tell you, I like it. I probably won't be posting again until next year but thanks to everyone for all the emails, letters, and facebook comments. It's nice to know people are supporting me.

Until next year...
